Role of Governments
One of the biggest challenges faced by humankind is to transition to a net zero world. However, it is essential that governments must lead, but their progress has been slowed down due to economic, political and regulatory hurdles. In certain cases, lack of leadership at national and international levels has also added to this decline.
Net zero matrix aims to help overcome some of these issues by form of a decentralized inclusive eco-system. From the WRI survey , it is evident that major reforms need to be brought in for states that are yet to incorporate national level targets and further implement them through local policies. Some of the benefits achieved are,
- Transparency : Governments need to build public trust for a holistic approach towards net zero. Our system of validation does not dictate power to specific groups and allows all parties to be part of the eco-system.
- Commitment : A long term commitment is crucial for achieving goals from the Paris agreement, irrespective of changing governments. An eco-system that is available to all is key to ensure this is met.
- Accountability : A de-centralized approach helps keeping parties involved accountable for their actions and allowing known corrections possible.
